This guide focuses on helping you to get to level 80 as fast as possible and get the most out of your character.

I created this guide because I love WoW - I like to play with my guild mates and raid all the endgame instances, but I got really frustrated with the time it takes you to get there..

World of Warcraft has so much to offer.. there's simply no reason to waste hours of your time leveling your character. That's why I want to help you to ding 80 ASAP!

This Mage leveling guide will help you choose the best race. We’ll cover both Alliance and Horde races.

Choosing a race does matter to some extent. If you want to, you can just pick the race that you like. But if you choose the wrong one, your character will never reach its full potential. It really depends on what you want to do once you hit 80

Let’s have a close look at the options and learn the usage of each race.

Undead

The Undead Mage is suitable for every PvP player thanks to Will of the Forsaken, but other than that the race doesn’t offer much to the mage.

Trolls

Trolls give a boost to your DPS when you start to play PvP or raid, making Trolls probably the best choice for Horde Mages that plan to join a raid group. “Berserking” and “Beast Slaying” can increase your leveling speed quite a bit.

Blood Elf

Blood Elf Mages are suitable for PvP, but add little to the PvE or leveling speed. Of course, if you like the look of Blood Elves or want to be an enchanter, that’s a different thing.

Human

The Human Mages’ advantage is definitely in his ‘Diplomacy’, but his PvP capabilities are nice, too. But since he is less effective than the gnome, the Human is the choice for players who don’t want their character to look tiny and funny.

Gnome

The Gnome Mage is – in our opinion – is the best choice for both PvP and PvE for the Alliance. You can level faster by choosing a Gnome Mate!

Draenei

The Draenei Mage is a good choice for party players thanks to Heroic Presence. If you want to help your raid to max the hit, go for a Draenei. Aside from that, Draenai can help you to level faster if you can make use of their HoT. Unfortunately squishy caster don't survive long enough most of the times.

This Mage leveling guide should give you a good feel for which race you should go with. Again, in the end it doesn’t matter that much, but if you have an intention for your character in mind, also choose your race with intention!
