In this Frost mage leveling guide you will learn the best glyph configs and tactics to support your AoE strategy.

If you focus on AoE to kill many mobs fast instead of pinning down single mobs, you need a different set of glyphs than usual to support you in battle.

Before we choose the Glyphs to support this strategy, let’s take a look at when you actually obtain more Glyph slots:

1. Level 15: 1 Major, 1 Minor

2. Level 30: 2 Major, 1 Minor

3. Level 50: 2 Major, 2 Minor

4. Level 70: 2 Major, 3 Minor

5. Level 80: 3 Major, 3 Minor

Frost Nova – Level 15 – Major Glyph

Your Frost Nova targets can take an additional 20% damage before the Frost Nova effect automatically breaks.

Mage Leveling Guide – The Best Order To Use Glyphes

The first Major Glyph is obviously Frost Nova.

Level 30, second slot, second easy decision: Ice Armor. It increases the Frost Mages survivability and is very useful for your AoE tactics.

Now, at level 46 it gets tricky. You have to decide whether you want Ice Armor or Ice Barrier in your second slot. In case you are overwhelmed by multiple mobs more often, go for Ice Barrier to save your life more often. If you get hit only a few times, stay with Ice Armor and reap the benefit more often.

As for the remaining Minor Glyphes it’s up to you. Slow Fall is useful if you actually fall down cliffs sometimes AND forget to buy 1-2 reagents (that shouldn’t happen often!). Arcane Intellect will reduce your downtimes by a very small amount.

Note: Tweaking your Frost Mages with Glyphes can increase your leveling speed slightly. However, just like Enchantments and the right Gear, they have only minor impact on your leveling speed. Still, you should get as much out of your mage as possible – because every little tweak counts and compounds!
